Editorial Standards

This page is maintained by Pulse Chronicles to describe the practices our newsroom holds itself to. It is not a third-party certification of those practices.

Independence

Pulse Chronicles is owned by Peachtree Editorial Holdings LLC. No member of the editorial staff holds an ownership stake in companies they cover. Conflicts of interest are disclosed in the byline area of any affected piece.

Sources

We prefer named sources. Where a source must speak on the condition of anonymity, the reason is stated in the piece and the source has been verified by both the reporter and their assigning editor. We do not pay for information.

Reviews

The Reviews desk follows a strict policy adopted under founding editor Richard E. Spoon in 1996 and unchanged since: we buy what we test, and we keep nothing. Products supplied by manufacturers are returned at the conclusion of the review. Where a product cannot reasonably be purchased (a car, an enterprise software platform), the loan terms are disclosed.

Shopping & affiliate links

Pulse Chronicles uses affiliate links in our Shopping coverage. Our editors do not know which products generate higher commissions, and our coverage decisions are made independently of our commercial operations. We disclose the use of affiliate links at the top of every relevant piece.

Use of AI

We use AI tools in the newsroom — for research, transcription, summarization, archive OCR, and drafting assistance. Where AI-assisted drafting materially shaped a published piece, we disclose it on the piece. We do not publish fabricated quotes, fabricated sources, or AI-generated images represented as photography, and we do not pass off AI-generated text as the original work of a named editor without disclosure. Our broader relaunch disclosures are on the transparency page.

Corrections

We correct errors of fact promptly and visibly. Corrections appear on the affected article and are logged on our corrections page. For corrections requests, email standards@pulsechronicles.com.

The archive

Pieces digitized from the 1978–2023 print archive are presented as they originally appeared, including period language and conventions. We do not silently revise them. Where errors have been identified, we add a dated note.
